DISC Profiling

DISC is the four-quadrant behavioral model based on the work of William Moulton Marston Ph.D. (1893 - 1947) that examines the behavior of individuals in their environment, or within a specific situation. DISC looks at behavioral styles and behavioral preferences.

Marston completed doctoral studies at Harvard in the newly developing field of psychology. Then, in the early 1920's, Marston first studied the concepts of will and power and their effect on personality and human behavior. These findings contributed greatly to the field of psychology.

The DISC assessment tool, although not developed by Marston, was introduced in 1930 by a friend of Dr. Marston’s who did use it as an assessment in a book on success. It was published as one of the first in the newly emerging field of self-help publications.

The tests classify four aspects of behavior by testing a person's preferences in word associations. DISC is an acronym for:

  • Dominance - relating to control, power, and assertiveness
  • Influence - relating to social situations and communication
  • Steadiness (submission in Marston's time) - relating to patience, persistence, and thoughtfulness
  • Conscientiousness (or caution, compliance in Marston's time) - relating to structure and organization

The workshop will enable you to understand your style, the style of others, and what to do to be effective when there is a difference (or when it’s the same).
Furthermore, this in-depth workshop will provide you with practical ideas and proven strategies that can be immediately applied to your own situation.

You’ll learn:

  • About yourself: your strengths and weaknesses.
  • About the four aspects of human behavior.
  • What your primary behavior means.
  • The profile attributes of the four styles.
  • Do's and don’ts of interaction between styles.
  • The best ways to handle each behavioral type.
  • Profiling in a team.
